Loading ...Below is a “short list” of some upcoming pointers yet to be revealed regarding the Hollywood Florida area — we will expand to other topics and also outward from Hollywood to cover other regions of south Florida all the way around to the western side of the peninsula, on up to the “oily panhandle” of Flori-DUH.
Note that we are now in the process of converting these “oncoming” topics into their permanent fleshed-out state on other pages, and the initial blurb may remain here for a while until we get it all into a finalized state, so “pardon our dust” if we have some redundancy and outright duplications for a while…
SoFla is overcrowded with belligerently rude, obnoxiously arrogant, irritatingly loud, dementedly ignorant, disagreeably uncaring, unreasonably argumentative, angry, irrational, insensitive, bone-headed morons. Briefly, visiting this southeastern region of Florida is like entering the psycho ward of an insane asylum mental institution, where everyone is mentally challenged and is on mood-altering psychotic drugs. The region is populated with what used to be referred to as a “cultural melting pot”, but over the last several decades has deteriorated into what many here more appropriately refer to as a “stinking cesspool” of the aforementioned peoples. From the arrogant insensitive rich, to the demented elderly (on mood altering psychotic drugs), to the loud obnoxious tourists (usually intoxicated), to the “third worlders” (mean and very nasty), to the homeless wino bums (begging on downtown streets), and all the way down to the “local yocals” (on illegal drugs and intoxicated) that used to be nice people but have become irritable and insolent due to the aforementioned “rotten apples”, this region is rife with blatant intimidation, even in the hospitality industry and the customer service areas. Not a great place to vacation if you need to relax, and not a good place to move to if you have trouble tolerating these types of aberrant and even deranged personality types.
Weather, Dangers, Diseases, Pests…. Oppressive heat, freezing cold, prolonged droughts, brush fires, torrential flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes, water spouts, pop-up unnamed tropical storms, deadly lightning, rip currents, sunburns, pestilence from swamp conditions and disease carrying mosquitoes and insects, biting no-see-ums, sea lice, bed bugs, dog eating alligators, baby eating pythons, killer bees, venomous scorpions, sharks, deadly jellyfish, stingrays, poisonous coral snakes, poisonous spiders, bird-sized flying palmetto bugs, filthy cockroaches, “snowbirds”, fire ants, termites, and an overabundant population of certifiably dangerous human freaks. This state of Florifreaks has exponentially more than its share of natural native and invasive non-native “exotic” dangers and irritating aggravations. Also, note that it is little known that the prolific hoards of “no-see-ums”, which actually bite their victims and suck out fluids, carry and transmit numerous minor human afflictions. A side danger from these pests is that the air is fumigated with toxic insect fogger machines that patrol the neighborhoods, and if you stay in a hotel room in Florida there will be unseen layers of poisonous insecticide all over anything you touch, not to mention the vapors that are given off by the residue. Even with the overdose of toxic insect sprayings there are still plenty of pestilent insects that seem to be resistant to the pesticides which will manage to make your stay here miserable from a pest standpoint.
The secret and DEADLY mosquito problem. OK, mosquitoes are a pest even in Alaska, but Florida is a subtropical swamp with water (breeding grounds for mosquitoes) everywhere and these pests are present year-round in this pestilent swamp. The new problem, which of course is being kept quiet along with the thousands of other little hidden dangerous secrets about Florida, is that a new “exotic” species of mosquito has invaded the region and is beginning to become prolific, introducing it’s own unique little problem for victims, and also carries deadly diseases that the native mosquitoes have never even heard of… The new invasive mosquito is know as the Asian Tiger Mosquito and has been identified as the carrier of diseases such as Dengue Fever, Encephalitis, Malaria, and dog heartworm. Note that hundreds of cases of dengue fever and encephalitis have turned up in the Florida Keys, particularly in Key west, in the starting in 2009. Altho there were news articles on subject, it is appears that the tourism industry has interceded to “encourage” the media to keep this valuable information quiet. The aforementioned unique problem with this dangerous pest is that it is much smaller than native mosquitoes, is less stupid in that you never hear of see them (they do fly around your face or ears), and they somehow manage to land and bite without detection. The victim only becomes aware of the bite later when it begins to itch, and that it does do with a vengeance, more so than typical mosquitoes. An additional downside of this burgeoning problem is that the municipal pest departments have quietly stepped up the spraying of toxic chemical pesticides in a seemingly futile effort to combat this virulent mosquito, going up and down each and every street with huge fogging machines, contaminating the air that Floridians breathe with poisons to kill insects, which are not exactly good for humans either. Another good reason to avoid Florida…
No Country for….ANYONE!. If you are considering moving to Florida, first ponder the following points. Florida is grand central station for medicare fraud. The state of Florida is again “number one” in the nation in mortgage fraud. Thousands of home’s are “underwater” financially. Many more waterfront homes will truly be under water, salt water from the ocean in the near future. Florida has one of the highest number of foreclosures in the nation. Unemployment in the state is over twelve percent, and most of those employed are low income “hospitality” and construction workers — there are no good jobs here. Hundreds of new hi-rise condominium towers are empty. Homes and businesses are empty everywhere. Homelessness, crime, and corruption are much too prevalent in FloriDUH. The weather is lousy, too cold and nasty in the winter, too wet, humid, and miserably hot in the “mean season”. Florida is a bowling alley for hurricanes, and just try to escape by vehicle in the panicked gridlock of morons if a hurricane is approaching (going “inland” is not safe either). Ever notice in the “mystery” section of bookstores the preponderance of crime novels that are based on the area of South Florida? Realize that there is a serious reason for that fact… Lastly on this topic, see the “SoFla’s Demise” page for the bottom line reason to never consider moving to SoFla nor purchasing any real estate in the state…
Dangerous traffic and gridlock. Traffic is bad in most major megalopolises, but the aforementioned mixture of “aberrant personalities” make this area exponentially more dangerous to try to drive around in. SoFla is the capitol of road rage and is much too common (involving firearms), drivers running stop signs and red lights at speed can be a daily experience, horrendous traffic blockages due to serious accidents is a commonplace everyday thing, and the thoroughfares have been designed to invoke serious gridlock in order to stall traffic in order to force more consumption of fuel in order to fund the DOT with more money from more taxes on the forced extra consumption of fuel. What the DOT controlled drawbridges do to increase the aforementioned fuel tax revenues that they spend wastefully on kickback projects is absolutely atrocious — hundreds of vehicles stack up to let each little boat pass through a drawbridge while the bridge tenders draw out the process needlessly to stall traffic to burn more fuel to bring in more “play money”. Ka-ching!
Crime, Drugs, Prostitution, etc., etc… This area has an abundance of impoverished third-world masses that subsist using crime as a means of income. Then too, think “Miami Vice”, and realize that very little has changed with the drug running and consumption here. Hookers walk the downtown streets of Hollywood with seemingly no law enforcement bothering to even monitor their activities (see “corruption” below, and check out our page on “Sofla Crime”).

NOTE: if you peruse the above two “spot crime” map sites, on any given day you will find the Miami map littered with an over-abundance of crimes and usually the Lauderdale map will depict considerably fewer crimes. Although at this point in time this observation (as you go further north along the southeastern Florida coast the crime rate decreases) holds true, the generally unknown reality is that the entire region is experiencing something akin to “white flight” of the affluent, crime-fearing, sensible, decent residents (of all ethnicities) out of the region. The crucial point of this note is that the people displaced by this “evacuation” are replaced by uneducated, impoverished, desperate people that must depend on government handouts and a life of crime to subsist, which in turn induces even more “flight”. The bottom line is that the situation is only becoming increasingly more problematic and will continue to increase at an even faster rate with the forthcoming economic devastation from the gulf “oil spill” [sic] and dramatically more so as the impact of the eventual flooding of coastal areas due to rising sea levels from climate change is finally realized, with the emphasis on “realized” because the mass evacuation out of the region will begin (the migration has actually already quietly started by those that are aware…) long before the flooding begins to invade waterfront residences and businesses.
High Prices. Because this is a tourist area, prices are inflated well above reason because “it’s the beach”. The cost of living and visiting here is entirely outrageous.
“Blue Wave” Beach? Hollywood touts it beach as designated as a “Blue Wave” beach by some organization which must surely accept bribes to ordain this supposedly good classification upon beaches. You can see in the videos that the beaches are extremely trashy, and we feel that the blue wave tag would more appropriately represent that people turn “blue” as they are hit with a “wave” of nausea from exposure to the rotting filth on Hollywood beaches.
Dangers on the beach broadwalk. Hollywood also touts it’s broadwalk as a beautiful “promenade”. Be aware that local hospital emergency rooms, chiropractors, surgeons, and orthopedic specialists view the broadwalk as a major source of new patients. The broadwalk has a bike lane in which boneheaded morons stand, walk, jog, run, and even lay down. This results in bikers and skaters going at high speed outside the bike lane through the crowds of people. Little children get run over, old people get knocked down, and of course even physically sound people end up in disastrous collisions, which send many to the emergency rooms. We will post a video of this soon, but in the interim if you are brave enough to visit the broadwalk, be very wary…
South Florida is a polluted stinking varmint and pest infested swamp. Another deception about Florida, similar to the supposed scenic drive through the chain of sand spits known as the Keys which in reality is nothing but a long dangerous terrifying drive down a two lane road, is the fact that South Florida is a yucky polluted swamp which they call the Everglades. If you have been deceived into thinking that the swamp is something to see, you will be greatly disappointed. It is nothing but miles and miles of endless sawgrass prairie; after a few seconds, there is nothing more so see. However, if you dare to venture into the swamp, you of course should expect to encounter not only hoards of ravenous disease carrying mosquitoes (encephalitis, dengue fever) and filth ridden no-see-ums along with crocodiles and alligators, but they now also have “discovered” thousands of fully grown python snakes, also known as boa constrictors which kill and eat dogs and babies (the alligators do that too). Also realize that this huge expanse of open water generates high humidity — if you do not like being uncomfortable, avoid this infested swamp. Lastly, the swamp is polluted from agricultural fertilizer runoff, sugar industry waste products, and livestock waste runoff. Drinking water for SoFla is funneled down from the brackish polluted distant Lake Okeechobee, not from the swamp, because the nearby swamp is even more polluted than the lake.
The eventual demise of SoFla. IF you or anyone you know lives in south Florida or you know anyone that might be considering moving to the region, consider this bit of certifiable insanity. We are not making this up, but you will never hear about this from the corporate-funded media until it is too late, and this is being kept quiet by the ivory tower “powers that be” in Florida. The levels of underground water aquifers of south and central Florida are being severely depleted from over-consumption of fresh water, largely due to the water used by the agricultural and citrus industries to irrigate and water their lands and livestock, but also to a lesser extent by overpopulated areas over-consuming the inadequate supply of fresh water. This fresh water aquifer depletion is approaching a level such that the salt water level will be higher than the fresh water table and the salt water and all of it’s chemicals and pollutants will encroach into the aquifers, effectively “poisoning” the major source of relatively unpolluted fresh potable water in south Florida for centuries into the future. If nothing is done to stop this seawater encroachment (the agricultural and citrus lobbies will pay off the right people to ignore the problem and look the other way, as little can be done anyway) this loss of the fresh water supply will result in massive migrations out of the region, property values will suddenly drop to near zero, the Florida business, tourism, and hospitality industries (effectively ALL employment) will be financially devastated, and eventually the entire region will become a giant version of the ghost towns of the Old West just waiting for the rising sea levels to flood the tip of the peninsula of Florida and the entirety of the swamplands of the Everglades which will die from intrusion of the salt water and then lightning will set off the burning of anything that is left before the Everglades is completely flooded when it will be renamed to the Gulf of Florida. Anyone for soggy barbecued alligator? The footnote to this is that the loss of revenue to the entire state of Florida will result minimally in loss of state services for the rest of the state. The maximal devastation stage of this process is said to be only a decade or two away, as the salt water encroachment has already begun to some extent. Refer to the next point below for verification of this “contention”…
The eventual flooding of SoFla. To elaborate on the prior point about the rising sea levels in SoFla: although the local Hollywood officials quietly admit to the “future” [sic] problems of the rising sea levels, they put their own spin on it to make it sound better than what it actually is, projecting the problem well off into the future when it is already here (as previously noted), and they have already had to raise road levels and add abuttments to hold back the rising waters, which were flooding even in times of drought (not during the rainy season) due to the rising levels of the intracoastal waterways. An admission from the “spin” report: “Local impacts related to climate change, especially sea-level rise, are already occurring. Critical public infrastructure, including beaches, roadways and especially stormwater drainage treatment and conveyance systems, have already begun to show vulnerabilities”. Vulnerabilities? Yes, vulnerable to disappearing under ocean waters….
Hollywood’s plan to dump “wastewater effluent” into their drinking water source. As a followup to the aforementioned saltwater intrusion scenario, we thought we should pass along the boneheaded plan that the local gourdheads have dreamed up. The city of Hollywood has a plan to implement a “salinity barrier project”. This would inject “treated” (with toxic chemicals which leave heavy residues) “wastewater effluent” (a.k.a. “sewage”) into their portion of the Biscayne Aquifer that has been intruded with salt water (reportedly, so far about one mile inland from the ocean), supposedly creating a temporary barrier that will hold off saltwater intrusion for a while, they hope. But, since Hollywood draws it drinking water from this same aquifer, we question the intentional dumping of toxically treated “wastewater effluent” sewage into what is “tap water” for the average resident/tourist.
Don’t Drink the Water? Most informed people are aware that public water supplies around the nation are contaminated with prescription drugs. Consider that America is the heaviest user of prescription drugs on the planet, something like three times more than the second place victim. Also, consider that south Florida is heavily populated with the elderly, most of which (if not all) are known to ingest multiple prescription drugs (as many as a dozen), many of which are mood altering psychotic drugs, so the level of these drugs in the water supply is much higher than it is nationally. Given this, and the previously mentioned unpleasant nature of SoFla residents, we have to conclude that ingestion of SoFla tap water has something to do with the difficult, even deranged people that reside, and visit here…
Corruption. We will not even attempt to summarize the overwhelming corruption in the area, which extends ad nauseum from “legal” gambling and all that it attracts, city administrations, community organizations, politicians, police, to the mainstream medical community (consider elderly, nursing homes, hospice “assisted suicide”, pharmaceutical abuse), and much more. Police. A sincere and monumental topic to cover, but we will mention here that altho there are some “good guys” on the local police force, that there are some really sinister law ignorance officials in Hollywood, and there are far too many reports of corruption to even begin to address here. One point we will cover is this. Everywhere you go at any time on the beach you will see “cops”, on bikes, on foot, and of course in their air conditioned patrol cars parked everywhere. Given this, consider that there is no crime on the beach, AND THERE NEVER HAS BEEN ANY CRIME on Hollywood BEACH; all the criminals live inland and never come to the beach, so even if the cops were not hanging out everywhere on the beach, there would be NO crime there… Contrast that with the fact that I once had reason to drive into, around, and remain at a location in the worst high crime area of Hollywood for three hours and never once saw a cop. Not one. Because they were all hanging out at the beach, a nice safe place. The corruption here is absolutely sickening. One more thing, if you dare to do what I am doing, you will be “BOLO-d”, harassed by the police — they will try to put you in jail, they will follow you everywhere. This is a “police state” here, and mostly a very corrupt one. Perhaps you noted Hollywood on the national news recently. The report was on a patrol car accidentally rear ending another vehicle. With the patrol car video camera running the officer conferred with other officers on the scene and decided to arrest the innocent person whose vehicle was rear-ended by the patrol car for supposedly backing up into the patrol car and claim that the driver was drunk (which they did do…). That’s how it is here, blatant hypocrisy and corruption…
Incredibly Stupid Mis-management. There are so many examples of how this state, the counties, and municipalities are mis-managed by Floridiots, that we could fill books with them all, but we will only list of few of the most obvious, and humorous to some extent. The first one that came to mind (because we see it every day right across the street), is that a lovely vacant lot with native foliage and two lovely pine trees exists on old north beach in Hollywood. The city recently spent (hundreds of?) thousands of dollars to plant sapling trees in the neighborhoods, whether we needed or wanted them or not. So, when the city was requested to not plant these trees in the empty lot, they refused to acquiesce to the property manager and did it anyway. They planted the saplings right under the huge pine trees, and if the saplings had lived to grow to full height they would have grown up into the branches of the pines — really stupid. But, as most people that live here know, these particular pines put out acidic roots that kill any other type of trees that might somehow start to grow — really stupid point number two. So, the saplings died, as the city was informed that they would. As soon as the saplings were planted, the city came around every day with huge water trucks and watered the immediately dying trees; and kept coming around daily for months afterward to keep watering the obviously dead trees — stupid point number three. Lastly for now, realize that the morons planted these saplings, which would grow to over twenty feet in height, DIRECTLY UNDER the huge pine trees, which allowed no sun for the saplings and which only allowed about ten feet of open space before the saplings would have grown into the pine trees if they could grow in those shaded, acidic conditions — stupid point number four, certifiably moronic. We can only imagine what remaining stupid points will surface in this fiasco, but for now they just leave the dead trees there as an eyesore, and we will follow up as soon as they figure out their next stupid mis-management trick on just this one little example of stupid mis-management that cost huge amounts of money — wasted money — but no doubt someone in the city was in line for a kickback… Below is a video showing some of the dead saplings that the city planted under one of the acidic pine shade trees.

Utility Companies. The same vacant lot in the above video with the tree planting mis-management example, is “posted” with several no-parking and no-littering signs, along with signs that violators will be towed and fined. Florida Power and Light work crews storm in out of nowhere and park up to five of their huge utility trucks there at a time, sometimes taking up half the street, restricting traffic flow. They then remain parked there for hours at a time, doing nothing (aka loitering) while “on the clock”, with their diesel engines running (for air conditioning) cranking out toxic carcinogenic diesel fumes which drifts into the local residences in this private residential neighborhood of north Hollywood. Note that these do-nothing power company employees eat, smoke, sleep, congregate, ogle at beach bypassers, spit, scratch themselves, and openly throw out their trash and cigarette butts. Complaints to the utility company usually work for a week or two but are eventually ignored and the disgusting riff-raff returns to terrorize the private neighborhood. We concede that it is necessary to some extent to overstaff these types of work crews for times of emergency, but following hurricanes all of the work crews that we see here actually doing work are contractors from out state, not FP&L work crews. This one example is all too typical of Florida utilities and their blatant disregard for the public which they overcharge through exorbitantly high utility rates, with the profits from which they do NOT adequately prepare for emergencies, always tackling problems after the fact, then requesting funds to do what they should have done with the profits before the obvious problems arose. Yep, this is typical of the state of Flori-DUH, and what you will be faced with if your happen to have to relocate here — not good for the old high blood pressure problem. More on this later, much more, but for now, the video below shows a couple of the trucks getting ready to hang out for a few hours (note that they don’t give a rat’s rear end about blocking traffic while doing absolutely nothing; all to typical of the jerks that live and work here…

More mis-management. The city of Hollywood recently installed new “street lights” on about three miles of it’s beachfront broadwalk and bike path. Now, Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are refusing to grant permits for Hollywood’s beach renourishment project until the city puts an ordinance in place to make lighting along the 6-mile beach sea turtle friendly. Back to the drawing board, another of a mountain of wasted project$ that has to be done over because of local management lacking foresight.

Rising Sea Levels. The “great coverup” along Florida shores is that the sea levels are rising due to the polar, glacial, and global ice sheets melting at a much more alarming rate than predicted and the effects are already being seen here, but not reported. A couple of years ago, a road construction project in north Hollywood raised the level of the AIA roadway by two feet, also adding abutments to hold back rising waters. This road runs parallel to and between the ocean and the intracoastal waterway (that separates the coastal barrier island from the adjacent mainland swamp) and had increasingly experienced flooding of the roadways at high tide in times of drought — so the flooding was from rising water levels, not from torrential rains. That was two years ago; we recently observed that the water levels were now approaching the top of the new abutments at high tides. This of course is kept quiet by the local chamber of commerce and real estate industry, as it is difficult to sell waterfront property and attract new residents when the area is faced with rising sea levels consuming low lying areas. You see this on the news about coastal dwellers in Alaska and remote Pacific islands, but the same thing is happening here — they just try to keep it very quiet or put their own spin on it. Terrorism Potential. Surrounded by water, intrusion by terrorists makes this densely populated area easily accessible. The Port of Miami to the south and directly adjacent Port Everglades increases the susceptibility of bioterrorism and the importation of nuclear weapons. Consider the heavy concentration of the pro-Israel population residing here and you have an area with an easy target on its back…
Education? What education? If you or anyone you know with children is considering relocating to Sofla, realize that the public education system here is horrendously substandard and private schools are exorbitantly expensive and few and far between. I assure you that you do not want your children in public school here and not just because of the educational system itself (see the topmost point above regarding the psycho-ward “mentality” that is prevalent here, plus the new post over on the “SoFla News” page regarding the layoff of hundreds of teachers in the county to save money).
High school drop out rate. To elaborate and emphasize separately from the above note on education, we address the high school drop out rate. First, realize that the high school drop-out rate for the entire state of Florida has climbed above 25% (and is still climbing), so one out of four students in the state do not even graduate high school. Realize that the 25% figure is state wide, and that in South Florida, in Broward county schools the drop out rate is 52% and in Dade county schools the drop out rate is 55%. More than half of high school students in these two counties do not care to get a high school education. These drop outs, effectively half of the population, live off of government handouts supplemented by burglary and robbery and drug dealing. And you were thinking of moving here?
Religions. To name just a few: “El Africano”, “Oloye Ifatoku”, “Ifa Orisha”, “Santería”, and “Yoruba”. Not only are Judaism and Islam religions prominent in Sofla, but there is a preponderance of occult, satanic, and paganistic “religions” to be found here. The practices of these religions range from drinking the mucus of giant African snails to public mutilation of animals (see the video of the decapitated chicken at the top of the “Real SoFla” page).
