Have you ever noticed in the “mystery” section of bookstores that the preponderance of crime novels are based on the area of South Florida? Realize that there is a serious reason for that fact, and that it is getting more serious…
Crime statistics increase…
Listed below are the reported crime statistics just for the little community of Hollywood Florida, with the emphasis on “reported”, realizing that not all crimes are reported, and emphasizing that the Hollywood Police Department has been featured in many reports themselves for being blatantly corrupt and unethical — more on that later, but our point being that the local law enforcement staff no doubt manages to under-report crimes to make themselves look better and the community to appear safer than it is (“cooking the books” has been proven to be a heavily utilized and common practice in Hollywood). Conclusion: select an approximate percentage (something like 25% to 33%) to add to the stats below for a more realistic depiction of what the high rate of crime is for the little burg of Hollywood, which is actually a fairly affluent community, and then ponder the surrounding communities (ever heard of “Liberty City”, “Little Haiti”, “Overtown”, “Opa Locka”, “Carol City”?) where the crime rates are much higher. Not a very safe region to visit or even to just travel through, and especially no place to choose to reside.
Year Murder Rape Robbery Assault Burglary Larceny Vehicle Theft
2008 13 53 394 340 1650 4643 773
2007 13 62 433 319 1429 4303 981
2006 08 58 384 288 1338 4113 803
Footnote to the above stats and the fact that the overall “reported” crime rates increase every year. The community of Hollywood Florida is “built out” from the coast to the swamps (as is the entire region), and experiences no population growth. The reason that crime increases while the population does not is that decent honest people have no choice but to wisely vacate the area and they are displaced with a growing impoverished “third world” element that resorts to crime to supplement their government “welfare” handout. It is common here to observe someone that has just used food stamps in a grocery store to exit the premises and get into their late model Cadillac Escalade SUV to no doubt drive home to their air conditioned villa to plan their their next drug deal and crime spree…

Flooding the streets with 19,000 criminals due to budget cuts…
With the crime rate in Sofla increasing, along with the criminal element ballooning, consider that due to the financial devastation that is Florida, budget cuts have forced the jails and penal institutions in Sofla to close down entire wings (some containing over five hundred jail cells inhabited by two prisoners) of their buildings for the last four years. This means that they have quietly been releasing prisoners and jailing fewer criminals due to budget cuts, which means more criminals on the streets here to rape, rob, pillage, and murder the populace — you know, tourists, residents, you…. The figure stated by the Broward County sheriff is that just under 20,000 prisoners are on the streets now due to budget cuts (which he flatly stated “should still be incarcerated”). You might wonder if there is any longer a need to retain a fully staffed police force if they cannot arrest and jail the hardened criminals that this region generates — well, yes, because the police generate revenue through traffic ticket fines, which lately seems to be what they are concentrating on… “Under intense financial pressure, the Broward County sheriff is making a move that could prove risky: shuttering another jail wing. The closing in July of a 544-bed tower in Pompano Beach may seem counter-intuitive in a county that’s under federal watch for jail overcrowding. In fact, it will be the fourth decrease in jail beds in Broward County over four consecutive years. All told, the county jails will have lost cells for inmates, not because of declining crime, but because of dropping funds. Largely paid for with property taxes, county jails are a target for cuts as tax income plummets across the state…” For anyone assuming that we made this up this is a link to an article about flooding the streets with 19,000 criminals because they can’t afford to keep them in jail…

Maps showing crimes in the area…
Spot Crime – Miami. A crime map of Miami area.
Spot Crime – Lauderdale. A crime map of Phfft Liqordale area.
NOTE: if you peruse the above two “spot crime” map sites, on any given day you will find the Miami map littered with an over-abundance of crimes and usually the Lauderdale map will depict considerably fewer crimes. Although at this point in time this observation (which is: as you go further north along the southeastern Florida coast the crime rate decreases dramatically) holds true, the generally unknown reality is that the entire region is experiencing something akin to “white flight” of the affluent, crime-fearing, sensible, decent residents (of all ethnicities) out of the region. The crucial point of this note is that the people displaced by this “evacuation” are replaced by uneducated, impoverished, desperate people that must depend on government handouts and a life of crime to subsist, which in turn induces even more “flight”. The bottom line is that the situation is only becoming increasingly more problematic and will continue to increase at an even faster rate with the forthcoming economic devastation from the gulf “oil spill” [sic] and dramatically more so as the impact of the eventual flooding of coastal areas due to rising sea levels from climate change is finally realized, with the emphasis on “realized” because the mass evacuation out of the region will begin (the migration has actually already quietly started by those that are aware…) long before the flooding begins to invade waterfront residences and businesses.
